A family man with a strong sense of community, is a fitting way to describe Julio Fuentes.

Julio started his career in optometry over 20 years ago and came to Newcastle working as a locum 15 years ago whereby he immediately fell in the love with city, beaches and people! Relocating with his wife and settling down they are now the proud parents of four beautiful Novocastrian children and a very spoilt fur baby!

Having worked previously in the optical corporate industry, the decision became clear for Julio who wanted to focus his expertise more on eyecare and creating a positive customer experience. Being therapeutically trained, he holds additional qualifications and endorsements to prescribe scheduled medicines for the treatment of eye conditions and diseases.

Julio opened Sight Savers Optometrists in Hamilton in 2013, a family owned and independent business that assists with all your eyecare and eyewear needs. Offering bulk-billed eye examinations for the whole family, state-of-the-art equipment including retinal photography, macular and glaucoma testing machines as well as O.C.T. (Optical Coherence Tomography) equipment for 3D imaging of the retina and macular. With an ever-increasing database, he has a strong sense of caring for his clients through advanced technology that ensures his patients receive the best possible care and treatment for their eye health conditions.

In his spare time Julio loves to spend time watching football, local soccer and has a love of 80s music. The family can often be seen cycling around town or dining at one of their many favourite restaurants.
